December-February is the driest season, though the cold weather from altitude (2,640m) is constant year-round. It's among South America's cheapest capitals. It's one of the world's highest capitals, and its Gold Museum holds the world's largest collection of pre-Columbian goldwork, with over 34,000 pieces from indigenous cultures predating the Spanish conquest.
