Canela

Canela needs 2 days: Parque do Caracol, with a viewpoint 131 meters from the falls of the same name, on one, and the Stone Cathedral, a neo-Gothic church built with local basalt stone, on the other. June-August is best. It's mid-to-high priced, somewhat cheaper than neighboring Gramado. It shares Gramado's cold climate and European-heritage architecture, but with a profile more geared toward nature and adventure tourism, with the Cascata do Caracol -a 131-meter drop, one of the tallest in southern Brazil- as its standout natural attraction.
