Inhotim (Brumadinho)

Inhotim needs a full day: the Instituto Inhotim, an open-air contemporary art museum spread across more than 20 galleries within a 140-hectare botanical garden, is the reason to visit in itself, with electric carts and bikes to get between the works. April-September brings the driest weather. It's mid-priced, with a paid entrance to the institute. Founded in 2006 by mining magnate Bernardo Paz, it's one of the largest open-air art museums in the world, with works by artists like Yayoi Kusama, Cildo Meireles and Matthew Barney integrated into the landscape.
