Mar del Plata

Mar del Plata can be explored in 2 days: its urban beaches and the Torreón del Monje on one, and the fishing harbor with its sea lions on the other. December-February is absolute peak season, when the city receives millions of Argentine tourists on summer vacation. Prices rise sharply then, comparable to Buenos Aires in high season, and drop notably the rest of the year. It's Argentina's most traditional beach town, nicknamed «la Feliz» (the happy one), and a historic gathering spot for generations of Argentine families on summer vacation.
