In the middle of Palermo, next to the city parks, this is one of the largest Japanese gardens outside Japan. Opened in 1967 for a visit by Japan's crown prince, it has koi ponds, arched bridges, an island of the gods, stone lanterns and an oriental plant nursery. There is a tea house, a restaurant and a programme of Japanese-culture workshops. Paid entry.
