One block from Plaza de Mayo, on the corner of Alsina and Defensa, this Franciscan church of colonial origin is one of the oldest in the historic quarter. Its present façade, laden with sculptures, dates from the early 20th century. Beside it stands the small chapel of San Roque, and it is a natural stop on the way to San Telmo.
