Norfolk needs 1 day: touring the USS Wisconsin battleship, one of the last battleships built by the United States and now a floating museum next to the Nauticus science center, and visiting Naval Station Norfolk, the largest naval installation in the world, with guided boat tours around the harbor, the same afternoon. April-June and September-October bring the mildest weather. It's mid-priced for Virginia. Its base hosts the entire Atlantic fleet of the US Navy, with over 75,000 military and civilian personnel, and the city had to be almost entirely rebuilt after an ambitious urban renewal plan in the 1950s and 60s demolished much of its original historic center.
