San Antonio needs 2 days: the Alamo, the historic site of the 1836 battle for Texan independence, on one, the River Walk -a pedestrian promenade at river level, lined with restaurants and bars- on the other. March-May and October-November are the mildest months. It's among the cheapest major cities in Texas. The Alamo is the state's most visited historic site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the four colonial Spanish missions preserved along the river, and its strong Mexican heritage makes it the US city where Spanish feels most present in everyday life.
