Toledo needs 1 day: touring the Toledo Zoo, internationally recognized for its aquarium and its 1934 art deco reptile building, and strolling through the Glass District along the Maumee River, honoring the glass industry that gave the city its nickname, the same afternoon. May-September brings the mildest weather. It's inexpensive for a mid-sized US city. It's known as the 'Glass City' for having been home to major glass manufacturers like Libbey and Owens-Illinois since the late 19th century, an industry that still supports much of its economy.
