Boulder City

Boulder City needs 1 day: touring Hoover Dam, one of the 20th century's greatest engineering feats, holding back Lake Mead, the largest reservoir by volume in the United States, and strolling through the historic downtown built in 1931 to house the workers who built it, the same day. October-April avoids the extreme Nevada desert heat. It's inexpensive. It's the only town in Nevada where gambling has been banned by law since its founding -to keep dam workers disciplined-, an exception that holds to this day in a state that lives off casinos.
