Kansas City needs 2 days: touring the LEGOLAND Discovery Center, on one, and trying Kansas City-style barbecue -with over 100 specialized spots around the city- in the historic 18th & Vine district, birthplace of African American jazz, on the other. April-June and September-October bring the mildest weather. It's inexpensive for a major US city. It has more public fountains than any city in the world except Rome -over 200-, and its own barbecue style, with sweet sauce and hours of slow smoking, is considered one of the four great regional barbecue styles in the United States.
