Key West needs 3 days: the Truman Little White House, a presidential vacation residence by Duval Street, on one day, the Key West Aquarium on another, and biking to the southernmost point of the continental United States -just 145 km from Cuba- on the third. March-May is best, avoiding hurricane season. It's expensive for Florida, with limited lodging as a small island. It's the final stretch of the Overseas Highway, a 200 km road built over 42 bridges connecting Miami with the Florida Keys, and its bohemian atmosphere -temporary home to Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams- made it the state's most singular island destination.
