Puerto Vallarta needs 3 days: touring the Malecón and its collection of oceanfront sculptures on one, the Zona Romántica neighborhood with Mexico's most established LGBT+ nightlife on another, and a day of water slides and activities at Aquaventuras Park on the third. November-April is the dry season. It's mid-priced for Mexico, with options ranging from backpacker to luxury resorts. It's the oldest Mexican Pacific beach destination in international tourism -popularized since the 1960s after "The Night of the Iguana" was filmed there-, and its Bahía de Banderas, one of Mexico's largest bays, hosts the largest humpback whale population on the Mexican Pacific in season.
