Viñales

Viñales needs 2 days: touring the valley by bicycle or on horseback among mogotes -vegetation-covered karst formations- and tobacco fields, on one, and visiting a tobacco farm to see the artisanal cigar-rolling process, on the other. November-April is best. It's inexpensive by Cuban standards. Its valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, produces much of the tobacco used in the world's most prestigious Habanos cigars, still cultivated with traditional ox-plow methods.
