Tamarindo

Tamarindo needs 3 days: its surf beaches on one, and sea turtle watching excursions or Las Baulas National Park for the rest. December-April is the dry season with the best beach weather. It's expensive by Costa Rican standards, reflecting the area's international surf and ecotourism appeal. It's one of Central America's best surf destinations, and its beaches are a nesting site for leatherback turtles, the world's largest sea turtle species, which come ashore to lay eggs during a specific season each year.
