Quebec City

Quebec City needs 2 days: the walled old town (the only one in North America north of Mexico) on one, and Château Frontenac and the banks of the St. Lawrence River on the other. June-September brings the best weather, avoiding the extreme winters. It's cheaper than Toronto or Vancouver. It's North America's only walled city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its French-speaking atmosphere, with over 95% of the population speaking French as their first language, makes it feel like a piece of Europe transplanted to Canada.
