St. Moritz

St. Moritz needs 2 days: the frozen lake in winter, host to snow horse races and the historic Cresta Run (skeleton sledding), on one end, the Alpine village with its century-old luxury hotels on the other. December-March is high season; June-September for hiking without the winter crowd. It's among the priciest towns in the Alps, a regular stop on the same social circuit as the Davos Economic Forum. It pioneered modern winter tourism -recreational Alpine skiing was invented here in the 19th century- and hosted the Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948.
