Castro Urdiales

Castro Urdiales needs 1 day: touring the fishing harbor with the 13th-century Gothic Church of Santa María, and the lighthouse built atop a 13th-century Templar castle next to the medieval bridge, all in the same walk. June-September brings the mildest weather. It's mid-priced, with strong demand for second homes from Bilbao. Its proximity to the Basque Country -less than half an hour from Bilbao- made it the favorite Cantabrian coastal town among Bilbao residents, and its picture of a Gothic church and lighthouse on the same outcrop is one of the most photographed on the whole Cantabrian coast.
