Nazaré

Nazaré needs 1 day: the O Sítio viewpoint, on a 110-meter cliff overlooking Praia do Norte, on one end, the fishing village by the main beach, where women still wear the traditional seven overlapping skirts, on the other. October-February is giant wave season, when it can have the largest surfable waves in the world (a record 26.2 meters in 2020); May-September for calm beach weather. It's cheaper than Lisbon. The Nazaré Canyon, Europe's deepest underwater canyon, is what generates those colossal waves, turning this fishing village into a world icon of big-wave surfing.
