ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo

ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo is a famous zoo and botanical garden founded in 1838. It is the oldest zoo in the Netherlands and one of the oldest in the world, featuring several historic buildings and architectural gems that add a dose of Dutch culture alongside amazing encounters with wildlife. Located in the heart of the city, ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo covers more than 10 hectares and is home to around 700 animal species, including Asian elephants, African penguins, reticulated giraffes, jaguars and many more. The zoo is also famous for its botanical gardens, which contain some of the rarest exotic trees and plants in the world. The zoo features a range of interactive exhibits, such as a Planetarium, an Aquarium, a Geological Museum, an Insectarium and a Butterfly Pavilion. There are also many educational and recreational activities for children, such as a petting zoo, playgrounds and an interactive science centre.
