Ravello

Ravello needs 1 day: the gardens of Villa Rufolo, with stepped terraces and gulf views that inspired Wagner, on one, and Villa Cimbrone, with its Terrace of Infinity lined with marble busts, for the rest. May-September is best. It's expensive, though less crowded than Positano or Amalfi since it sits up in the hills, away from the sea. Sitting 350 meters above sea level, it offers the highest and most panoramic views of the entire Amalfi Coast, and its summer classical music festival, held in the Villa Rufolo gardens since 1953, made it a cultural reference point beyond its coastal neighbors' beach tourism.
