Fira (Santorini)

Fira, Santorini's capital, can be seen in 2 days: a walk along the caldera rim with volcano views on one, and a boat trip to the hot springs or to Oia for sunset on the other. May-June avoids extreme temperatures and the July-August crowds. It's expensive, among Greece's priciest island destinations given its international fame. Its white houses with blue domes, built literally on the edge of a 300-meter volcanic cliff, are the most photographed image of all the Greek islands.
