Worms takes 1 day to see: St. Peter's Cathedral, the site of the 1521 Diet of Worms where Martin Luther refused to recant before Emperor Charles V, in a morning walk, and the «Heiliger Sand», one of Europe's oldest Jewish cemeteries in continuous use since the 11th century, in the afternoon. April-October is best. It's inexpensive by German standards. It was the setting of the medieval epic poem «The Nibelungenlied», and its historic Jewish community -one of Europe's oldest- made the city one of the centers of medieval Ashkenazi Judaism.
