Marburg

Marburg takes 1 day to see: Marburg Castle, on a hilltop overlooking the half-timbered old town, in a morning walk, and the steep lanes of the historic center, in the afternoon. April-October is best. It's inexpensive by German standards. The Brothers Grimm studied law at its university, one of Germany's oldest, and today nearly a quarter of its residents are students, reflected in its nightlife and youthful atmosphere for such a small city.
