About Ngorongoro
The Ngorongoro Crater is a 20 km-wide volcanic caldera with 600-meter walls enclosing its own self-contained ecosystem: around 25,000 large animals live inside year-round without migrating, including one of Tanzania's safest black rhino populations. Unlike the Serengeti, it's small and concentrated — a single day is enough for a full safari inside the crater — and it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the whole conservation area, which is also home to Maasai communities living alongside the wildlife.
